Construction Law [QSB 4414]

The module provides an understanding of the principles of construction laws and its applications. By
understanding the basic principle of construction law, the importance of adhering to the specific procedures and notices are emphasized.

Development Economics [QSB 4424]

This module will introduce students to the development, roles and contribution of construction industry to national economy. It is initiated with the introduction of the process in a property development and factors that influence the development process. 

Assignment 1- Financial Appraisal

It divides into two parts:

A. Group Assignment (22.5%)

We are asked to prepare a financial appraisal of the project using Residual Method of Valuation as well as a cash flow for the project based on "Sell-then-Build" concept. 

B. Individual Assignment (7.5%)

We are asked to tabulate the NPV based on "Sell-then-Build" concept along with the recommendation on the cash flow and project viability if it is based on a"Build-then-Sell" concept.

Project Management [QSB 4424]

Based on the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBoK), we are taught by Mr Leong Boon Tik on this subject on how to manage a construction project.

Assignment 1- Individual Assignment (20%)

We are required to prepare a table of activity precedence and duration for all activities stated in the brief as well as the critical path and Gantt Chart.

We are required to prepare a business proposal to develop a land of 1,200m2 nearby the Taylor's University Campus. The proposal should contains project description, justification, cost estimation and project control and monitoring.

Dissertation [QSB 4924]

The module intends to introduce students to academic research and provide some in-depth understanding of the research methodology. Students are required to undertake and submit a substantial piece of independent research work which consists of both recording and analysing of data or the summary of published material on the topic supplemented by opinion gathered through interviews or questionnaires. 

Assignment 1- Dissertation 

We are asked to continue our previous semester dissertation to write the Chapter 3: Research Methodology, Chapter 4: Research Findings as well as Chapter 5: Conclusion and Recommendation. My topic is on "Incorporating Taylor's Graduate Capabilities (TGC) among QS interns based on the employers' expectation".

Cost Value Engineering [QSB 4215]

The module provides the history, background, theories, concepts and principles of value engineering and value management in decision making process. The module also introduces the idea of unnecessary cost and cost cutting exercise in the cost planning and control stage.

Assignment 1- Case Study

We are required to apply Value Management tools in our case study, which is the primary school. This assignment shall carry 30% of the total mark.
